Roughcast Repairs & Re-Roughcasting in Lanarkshire
Blown, cracked or missing roughcast patched, matched and made watertight – or a full wall re-cast where it’s past patching.
What we do
Roughcast fails in patches. It sounds hollow when you tap it, a crack opens, then a section drops off after a hard frost and the brickwork behind starts taking water. We repair it: hollow areas are cut back to sound material, the wall is prepared and a new base coat applied, then fresh roughcast is thrown to match the chip size and colour of what’s there. Done well, you struggle to see the patch.
Where a whole elevation is blown or a previous patch job has left it looking like a map, we re-cast the full wall. And because a repaired wall is the ideal base for a coating, a lot of roughcast repairs around Lanarkshire become a repair-then-coat job – fixed, sealed and finished in one visit.
Process
- Tap test and survey – find every hollow area
- Cut back to sound roughcast
- Base coat and mesh where needed
- Roughcast thrown to match chip and colour
- Optional: paint or wall coating over the finished wal
FAQ's
Can a patch be matched to the existing roughcast?
Closely, yes. Old roughcast has weathered, so a painted or coated finish over the whole wall gives the perfect match.
How do I know if my roughcast is blown?
Tap it. A hollow sound means it’s come away from the wall. Cracks and green patches are the other signs.
Should I repair before coating?
Always. A coating over blown roughcast will fall off with it.
Do you do full re-roughcasting?
Yes, single elevations or whole houses.
