Render & Roughcast Cleaning in Lanarkshire
Green algae, black streaks and moss lifted off render, roughcast and K-Rend with a soft wash – no blasting, no damage.
What we do
Half the houses in Lanarkshire are roughcast, and most of them have a green north wall and black streaks under the windows. It’s algae and it spreads. Pressure washing roughcast knocks the chips off and drives water into the wall, so we don’t do it. We soft wash instead – a low-pressure application of a cleaning solution that kills the growth, followed by a gentle rinse. The wall comes up clean and stays clean, because the treatment keeps working after we’ve gone.
The same method works on smooth render, K-Rend and other through-coloured renders, painted masonry and stone. If your roughcast is cracked, blown or falling off, cleaning won’t fix that – have a look at roughcast repairs, or ask Martin to check it when he quotes.

FAQ's
Can roughcast be pressure washed?
It shouldn’t be. It loosens the chips and lets water in. Soft washing is the safe method.
Will the black streaks come off?
Algae and organic staining, yes. Rust or paint runs need a different fix.
Should I clean before painting or coating?
Always. A coating over algae fails within a year.
